The small sun stove can boil 1 litre of water in 15 to 20 minutes, whereas the large stove can boil 1 litre of water in 10 to 15 minutes. For some people its more convenient to have a smaller sun stove because it is smaller and lighter, but others prefer a large sunstove because it is hotter, and cooks faster.
This solar cooker is a reflective parabolic dish that concentrates sunlight onto a pot in the middle of the cooker. It can be used to cook, bake and even fry foods. Rice, stews, porridge, fried dishes, bread bakes and even braai on a grill! With the Sun Stove there is surprisingly little difference to normal stove cooking. Different sizes are available for different needs, with the larger models being more powerful. It can bring 1 litre of water to the boil in 10 minutes, and reach temperatures of over 200 degrees C.
Set up sun stove according to package instructions & face it towards the sun.
Adjust until the bright light shows under the ring.
Bright Light under ring as per illustration.
Adjust ring up or down untill the hotspot is under the centre of the ring.
Finally adjust so that the hotspot is a defined dot underneath the pot. 1 litre of water will boil in 15 minutes.
Do not look at the bright dot without wearing sunglasses. Always wear sunglasses and oven gloves while cooking.
